Optimix Partners with Bozhilin to Advance Smart Construction with Putty Robots
2026-03-01

Facing the multiple challenges of labor shortages, tight schedules, and continuously rising quality requirements in the Hong Kong construction industry, Optimix has taken the lead in responding to industry needs with its scientific research strength, launching a deep technical collaboration with Bright Dream Robotics, a leading domestic construction robot brand. Optimix's R&D team specifically readjusted the formulas of two of its skimcoat products — OPTIMIX SC216 Skimcoat (Fine) and OPTIMIX SC273 Skimcoat (Putty for Paint) — tailored to the construction characteristics of Bright Dream Robotics' putty coating robots. This ensures that the slurry achieves optimal fluidity, setting time, and surface smoothness under mechanized construction conditions, allowing the robots to operate smoothly, stably, and continuously.

Research-Driven: Customizing Formulas for Robots
Optimix has always firmly believed that true customer service goes beyond providing off-the-shelf products; it lies in deeply understanding the construction needs of customers and providing tailor-made solutions through technological R&D. In this collaboration, the Optimix R&D team worked closely with Bright Dream Robotics engineers to systematically evaluate the special requirements of the robot's automatic scraping and material feeding systems for putty materials. They made precise adjustments to key performance indicators such as slurry fluidity, setting time, water retention rate, and bonding strength.

The adjusted formulas effectively prevent issues such as bubbles, cracks, and uneven thickness during mechanical construction, significantly improving the smoothness and consistency of the finished walls, and fully demonstrating Optimix's profound accumulation in the field of building materials research.

In-Factory Practical Validation: Precisely Meeting Construction Needs
To ensure the formulas can perfectly handle actual engineering challenges, this collaboration specifically conducted rigorous practical validation within the Bright Dream Robotics factory. Under simulated construction conditions in the factory, the Bright Dream Robotics putty coating robot, paired with Optimix's adjusted OPTIMIX SC216 and OPTIMIX SC273 product formulas, successfully achieved a fully automated skimcoating process, covering automatic material feeding, scraping, and surface treatment.

The practical results showed that the automated construction solution increased construction efficiency by over 30% compared to purely manual work. More importantly, the high consistency brought by robotic construction effectively reduced human operational differences, enabling the thickness and smoothness of each putty layer to meet stricter quality standards. This validation fully proves that Optimix not only possesses the research capability to adjust formulas but can also coordinate the entire construction chain to ensure the smooth implementation of new technologies in real site environments.

Product Highlights: The Complementary Advantages of OPTIMIX SC216 and OPTIMIX SC273
OPTIMIX SC216 and OPTIMIX  SC273 each have unique features and can be flexibly selected according to different construction areas and environmental needs. Both have passed this robot compatibility optimization:

  • OPTIMIX SC216 Skimcoat (Fine): Known for its high compressive strength and excellent bonding power, it is suitable for various substrate materials and both indoor and outdoor environments, making it a reliable choice for large-area wall leveling. After formula optimization, its slurry fluidity is more suitable for the robot's pumping system, ensuring stable material feeding and continuous construction.
  • OPTIMIX SC273 Skimcoat (Putty for Paint): Focuses on the fine leveling of interior walls and ceilings. It features a high water retention rate and low VOC characteristics, making it particularly suitable for residential and public building projects with strict indoor air quality requirements. The optimized formula further enhances its surface molding quality under mechanical scraping conditions, making ceiling and wall construction results more delicate and even.

Looking to the Future: Continuously Promoting the Smartification of Building Materials
Calvin Chan, CEO of Optimix Group, stated: "We do not just provide building materials; we provide solutions. In the future, Optimix will continue to invest resources in developing more 'robot-friendly' building materials, expanding into more automated construction scenarios, and working with partners to jointly promote the smartification process of the construction industry in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area."

Optimix will continue to invest R&D resources to deepen the integration of products and automated construction technologies. In the future, Optimix plans to further expand its robot-compatible building material product line, develop a series of formulas specifically designed for automated construction scenarios, and explore more application possibilities for smart construction. We believe that the future of the construction industry lies in the synergistic advancement of people and technology. Optimix will continue to be driven by scientific research and innovation, guided by customer needs, and work hand in hand with industry partners to create a new smart chapter for Hong Kong's construction industry.
